Saturday Night Serenade–Happy Easter!

It’s the end of March, the weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer.  And it’s finally Spring.  Hopefully, it feels that way where you are.

Happy Easter!  It’s a time of renewal and rebirth, a time for peace.  For this week’s serenade, I have a couple of classics from Cat Stevens, or, if you prefer, Yusuf Islam as he’s now known.  I imagine his new name stirs up some feelings for some people.  Who am I to judge?  I call myself Pandora Spocks, for corn’s sake.  😉

What I know is that Morning Has Broken is a sweet reminder of mercies that are new every morning.  And for that, I’m grateful.

And as long as we’re talking Cat Stevens, I couldn’t resist this performance of Peace Train from the 2014 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.  I saw the whole show, and this was the surprise highlight.

This Easter, suppose we embraced peace.  Wouldn’t that be amazing?

I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family, no matter what holiday you celebrate.  Be sure to hug the ones you love.

Happy Saturday night!

Saturday Night Serenade–It’s December!

Well, it’s done.  The tree is up and decorated.  The dining room table is ready in all its festive glory.  The outside lights are up, including three 3-D twinkling snowflakes in the front window, the new addition for this year.

I LOVE December!  And everything that comes with it.  The decorations, the food, the parties, the movies and television specials, and most especially the music.

I’ve become obsessed with Pentatonix.  Are you over them yet?  I know some people are, but they utterly fascinate me.  So I’ve pulled a two-fer for tonight’s serenade.  Mary Did You Know always touches my heart, maybe because I’m the mom of two baby boys.  Well, they’ll always be baby boys to me.  And this version of Carol of the Bells is so cool.

I’m wondering…
What are your favorites?

I hope you’re enjoying this first weekend of December.  Be sure to hug those you love.  Happy Saturday night!

Saturday Night Serenade–Happy Labor Day!

It’s Labor Day Weekend, the official end of summer.  Doesn’t it seem like we were just celebrating the 4th of July?  I’m thrilled to at least have a nice three-day weekend.

Tonight’s serenade celebrates the working man.  And woman.  Hell, we all work hard.  So let’s take advantage of the time off and kick it old school with a little Huey Lewis and the News.

And just for good measure, I’ve thrown in the Dropkick Murphys and their Workers Song.  Because it wouldn’t be a holiday without a little jig-punk.  When you watch the video, notice the moshers near the front of the stage?  When the Murphs came to West Palm, I ended up being right there with them.  I just figured we had a good spot to watch the concert.  Who knew we’d have to fight like gladiators?

Tonight, I’m raising a glass to the working folks.  Because let’s face it, we’re the ones who make it all run.  Enjoy your holiday weekend and spend it doing what you love, with those you love.

Happy Saturday night!

Saturday Night Serenade–Mellow Saturday

I’m feeling mellow tonight.  Maybe it’s because I’ve been off all this week for Spring Break.  Maybe it’s because I’m still feeling a little down since my baby returned home to the wilds of the Mid-West.  Maybe it’s because it’s Easter tomorrow.  But I’m in a James Taylor sort of mood.  Sometimes, only his brand of mellow will do.

And you’re in luck–it’s a two-fer!  Because I couldn’t resist Sweet Baby James.  Happy Saturday night!

And Happy Easter!

Saturday Night Serenade–Feelin’ Alright

It’s the first day of a three-day weekend. Mr. R. has taken his weekend off as well and I’m writing this post from Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach where we’re watching the ponies run.

To be honest, we very nearly left. It’s crowded and overpriced and we lost $30 in the casino. But then we found the tiki bar, bought a couple of drinks, and bet on a couple of races. We won $47 on the second race, so we’re really only out the cost of our drinks. All in all, not too shabby.

Now we’re on our way back to Palm Beach County and the South Florida Fair. And you know what? I’m feeling alright.

So sit back and enjoy a little Joe Cocker. And have a happy Saturday night!

Saturday Night Serenade–Memorial Day Weekend

Here in the States we’re celebrating Memorial Day on Monday.  Many people are enjoying a three-day weekend.  The Indianapolis 500 is tomorrow.  There will be barbeques and cookouts, trips to the beach, and huge sales at the mall.  Hopefully folks will also take a little time to appreciate the freedoms we enjoy and the people who gave all so that we could have them.

I’m the daughter of an Army veteran, the wife of a Navy veteran, mom of an Airman, mother-in-law of an Airman, step-mom of an Army veteran, and extended family of a Coast Guard veteran and a Marine.  I appreciate them all.

Happy Saturday night!
