We had a terrific time while my son was here this week, although the time went WAY too fast. We hung out, visited a few of his favorite haunts, and had his buddy out for dinner one night.
Since my boy would too soon be land-locked once again in Nebraska, we made sure we got out to the beach one day. While walking along, my husband spotted this. The photo and caption are his.
Which explains just one reason why I love this man so much.
My new book Rannigan’s Redemption Part 2: Running Rogue is out today on Amazon, iTunes, B&N, Kobo, & Smashwords. It’s the continuation of the story of the complicated relationship between highpowered Manhattan attorney Michael Rannigan and Maggie Flynn, the smart, spunky redhead he hired straight out of law school.
Michael Rannigan is running rogue. Since Maggie’s abrupt departure from the law firm of Murphy, Rannigan, & Metheny, he’s been in a tailspin. As he limps along in the new normal, he misses her more than he ever imagined.
Maggie misses Michael as well. But she makes the best of her new job at the District Attorney’s office. Occasionally they cross paths in court, each assessing the other. Like Michael, she finds herself making questionable personal choices.
When opportunity knocks for Michael he leaps at it, maybe as much to avoid Maggie’s absence as anything else. The fact that his decision impacts everyone else at the firm doesn’t slow him down at all.
Then comes news that shakes him to his core. Now that he’s burned all his bridges, who will be there to help him pick up the pieces?
This is what I came home to today. My sweet wanted to surprise me for Launch Day. It’s reason #497 I’m the luckiest girl on the planet.
Mr. R. and I enjoyed a lovely Christmas Eve date night (more on that another time) and a very nice Christmas day. We slept late, enjoyed a leisurely breakfast, exchanged our own gifts, and spent a few hours visiting family. Our time together reminded me of the lucky girl that I am.
Tonight’s serenade is Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden. It’s a beautiful song, and the bonus is that the video is shot in Paris, one of my all time favorite places. And it reminds me that I am truly, madly, and deeply in love with my sweet.
I hope that your holiday was special. Happy Saturday night!
Mr. R. and I have been having the best summer. His odd work schedule, which we hated while I was still working, has been an absolute God-send. We’ve stayed up late at night, slept in late in the morning, hung out until time for him to go to work. We’ve had the luxury of being able to enjoy each other.
I’m studiously ignoring the fact that shortly, I’ll be back to the grind, and we’ll be back to the weeks where we don’t really see each other from Sunday night until Friday afternoon. There is a possibility that he’ll get back to a more normal schedule before too long. I just want to make sure I appreciate the moments. I love this song. It reminds me of how I feel about my sweet. I hope you like it, too. Happy Saturday night!
Smile
You’re better than the best
I’m lucky just to linger in your light
Cooler than the flip-side of my pillow (that’s right)
Completely unaware
Nothing can compare to where you send me
It lets me know that it’s okay (yeah, it’s okay)
And the moments when my good times start to fade
[Chorus:]
You make me smile like the sun,
Fall outta bed
Sing like a bird,
Dizzy in my head
Spin like a record,
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool,
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold,
Buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Oh, you make me smile
Even when you’re gone
Somehow you come along
Just like a flower poking through the sidewalk crack
And just like that
You steal away the rain
And just like that
[Chorus]
Don’t know how I lived without you
‘Cause every time that I get around you
I see the best of me inside your eyes
You make me smile
You make me dance like a fool,
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold,
Buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Oh, you make me smile
[Chorus]
(Oh, you make me smile)
Oh, you make me smile
(Oh, you make me smile)
Oh, you make me smile
A live performance by Jimmy Buffett seems to be just the right speed for a lazy summertime Saturday night. Jimmy Buffett in concert. Now there’s something I haven’t done yet. It’s added to my bucket list. But for now, raise your rum buckets in a toast to a happy Saturday night!
With my school year over, it’s officially summer, despite what the calendar says. It’s time for long lazy days of appreciating each other and the life we’ve built together. I’m such a lucky girl. Happy Saturday night!
Come Away with Me by Norah Jones
Come away with me in the night Come away with me And I will write you a song
Come away with me on a bus Come away where they can’t tempt us With their lies
I want to walk with you On a cloudy day In fields where the yellow grass grows knee-high So won’t you try to come
Come away with me and we’ll kiss On a mountaintop Come away with me And I’ll never stop loving you
And I want to wake up with the rain Falling on a tin roof While I’m safe there in your arms So all I ask is for you To come away with me in the night Come away with me
